All posts for the month August, 2016
I have been diagnosed with a severe case of rectal cancer that might take my life. I can accept the hand I have been dealt (because of my faith), but if my medical treatment fails, I am haunted by fear of my wife’s future well-being. As a self-published author I know expectations of financial wind-falls from the sale of my novels are a pipe dream, but any royalties in the future could help her survive without me. I need to position my novels so they may sell in the future, and two items that may help this to occur are to generate large numbers of reader reviews and increase the number of books sold.
To this end I am offering the Kindle editions of all three novels for 99 cents from Wednesday, August 31 through Tuesday, September 6. I would appreciate anyone providing reader reviews posted to Amazon. The reviews need not be long and wordy. Each 99 cent purchase will help with sales numbers.
I describe my writing as novels of significant cultural and historic events masked in a costume of fiction. My novels include:
THE BLANKET HILL INSURGENCY, a novel of Baby Boomers caught in the slowly developing cultural war of the sixties fueled by the War in Vietnam resulting in the shootings at Kent State University. Kindle link of http://amazon.com/dp/b01b26ljfu.
BREAKING LIBERATOR’S SHACKLES, an inspirational novel of an American Airman’s enslavement as a Japanese Prisoner of War during World War Two. Kindle link of http://amazon.com/dp/b019xyor8y
TARNISHED VALOR, a novel depicting the struggle Veterans of the Vietnam War endured when returning home bearing scars of war while facing a society that changed during their absence. Kindle link of http://amazon.com/dp/b01dt1q6hm.
Each novel is also available through Kindle Unlimited and in print of both standard and large print versions (print versions are not discounted). I would also appreciate sharing of this post.
A SINCERE INVATATION:
If you will be in Northeast Ohio on August 13, 14 or 15, you are invited to attend any of three events taking place. I am joining with author M.A. Appleby (a high school classmate from 51 years ago) for three events open to the public. The events include:
- Book signing hosted by the Learned Owl Book Shop, 204 North Main Street, Hudson from 1:00 to 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 13.
- Event hosted by the St. Joseph Pinto Vista Vineyard, 7800 Warren Road, Madison from 1:00 to 5:00 PM on Sunday, August 14. This event is a benefit for the non-profit Miracles Among Us, Inc. (An organization supporting survivors, families and caregivers of traumatic and acquired brain injury)
- Presentations and book signing hosted by the Chardon Public Library, 110 East Park Street, Chardon starting at 7:00 PM on Monday, August 15.
Marjorie (Ms. Appleby), who now resides in Florida, is an author of mysteries. Two books of her WHISPER MYSTERY TRILOGY have been published. These include THE ANCIENT WHISPER and WHISPERED DREAMS. The third book, JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND STEPS, is scheduled for release later this year. These mysteries captivate the reader as Ms. Appleby portrays a mother fighting to overcome a life turned upside down by world politics, criminals and a Federal bureaucracy. Rather than accepting defeat from the hand she is dealt, this lady responds with cunning as she wages her war with Middle East royalty, Homeland Security, those who identify themselves as FBI agents and an organization of criminals.
Currently residing in South Carolina, I am an author of novels depicting significant cultural and historic events wearing a costume of fiction. My inspirational Second World War Two novel, BREAKING LIBERATOR’S SHACKLES, reveals the horrors American servicemen suffered as Prisoners of War held by the Japanese. It also includes settings from Chardon, Ohio and surrounding areas. The changing American culture leading to the shootings at Kent State University is the stage set for my novel, THE BLANKET HILL INSURGENCY. My most recent work, TARNISHED VALOR, explores the plight faced by disabled and scared veterans following their return home from fighting an unpopular war in Vietnam.
